Triad Retirement Resource Guide - Winter 2018 Issue

A Letter From the Publisher…

In this issue….

Time past and time present meld in this issue of the Triad Guide, beginning with Reynolda, the country mansion Katharine Smith Reynolds envisioned 100 years ago. Reborn as a museum 50 years ago, today it has welcomed more than a million visitors who come to view its widely praised collection of paintings and graphic art.

The 100th anniversary of World War I is remembered through the lives of nine Greensboro residents, including Harriet Elliot, a nationally known figure, who played a vital role in that world wide conflict.

A New Year is the best time for self reflection and setting goals like eating healthy food and exercising regularly. Fred Holt, who exercises three times weekly at ACT by Deese, tells how his strength, balance, and agility have improved... with his children's expressed approval.

The close of a year is neither an end nor a beginning but a keeping-on, hopefully, the wiser from the experiences of the past year. So raise a cup with friend and foe to Auld Lang Syne* and days that will not come again.

* Sung on New Year’s Eve since the mid-19th century, it became firmly cemented as a holiday standard when Guy Lombardo and the Royal Canadians played it during a radio broadcast from New York’s Roosevelt Hotel at midnight on December 31, 1929.
